Staff Appreciation Award

The Arts and Science Staff Network Board, in cooperation with the Dean of Arts & Science, invites you to nominate a member of your staff for the 2008 Staff Appreciation Award for exceptional performance and attitude. The award, will to be presented to the honored staff member during the A&S Spring Luncheon/Retreat. The award includes an inscribed plaque, a check (dollar amount to be announced at the luncheon), and season passes to MU's Summer Repertory Theatre.

Criteria

  • Employees may be nominated by Arts & Science staff, faculty, or students
  • Nominees must have at least a 75% FTE appointment and six months of continuous service within the College
  • Current Arts & Science Staff Network Board members are eligible for nomination

Process

  • Completed nomination form (download the pdf) should be sent to the Arts & Science Awards Committee, c/o Jessie Becker, 360 McReynolds Hall
  • The Awards Committee will coordinate the distribution of nominations to an Emeritus faculty selection team and report to the Arts & Science Staff Network Board

Staff Enrichment Award

Due by: No funds will be available for this Award for 2009-2010.
Applications can be submitted anytime during the year.

The Arts & Science Staff Network Board created the A&S Staff Enrichment Award in order to help develop nonacademic staff as a human resource and foster continued education and professional development.  The award is intended to support participation in short courses, workshops, conferences, and similar short-term experiences. Applicants should complete all parts of the form (download the pdf) , following the guidelines described below. This award is funded by the Arts & Science Dean's Office

Application Process

Completed application and budget should be sent to the Arts & Science Staff Awards Committee. Applications will be forwarded to the committee for review according to the posted criteria. All applicants will be notified of award status in a timely manner.  Award recipients will be instructed where to submit their expense documents and must submit a written report of their activities within 30 days of the event.

Requirements

Applicants must be a full-time (at least 75% FTE), permanent nonacademic staff of the College of Arts & Science who have completed six months of continuous employment with MU. Current Arts & Science Staff Network Board members are ineligible. Reimbursement will be in accordance with University regulations and consistent with the budget approved by the Arts & Science Staff Awards Committee. Individual awards will not exceed $150.00 in any given fiscal year; exceptions require special approval and are dependent upon available funds. Once reimbursement is made, there is a three-year waiting period before a new application can be submitted from that recipient.

Exclusions

  • Certification exams
  • MU Educational Assistance (courses toward degrees)
  • Adult Education Courses
  • Duplicate awards (i.e., the campus-wide Staff Development Project Award Program)

Review Criteria

  • Overall Quality: Clear, coherent, specific? Acronyms spelled out? Professional or personal benefit? Benefit to others?
  • Feasibility: Activity completed within stated dates? Benefits consistent with stated purpose?
  • Conformity to Requirements: Applicant eligible? Activity eligible? Supervisor's signature obtained?
  • Budget Feasibility: Conforms to the MU regulations? Reasonable and justified?
